Service

My mom was asked to give a talk at church and the topic was service.  She let me read it and these two thoughts really stood out to me.

The ideal is accepting life itself as a trust to be

used in the welfare of mankind.  It is a life that is glad for the chance

to be of any help, an attitude that service is the rent we pay for our own room on earth.

"Heavenly Father is a vastly loving God, and it has always been his intention to support us….We accepted the challenge to bear one another’s burdens.  Now bearing one another’s burdens sounds like a chore, but it’s amazing how lightened we quickly feel when we do the work.  Think for a moment why that is.  When we bear one another’s burdens, we are acting as an agent for Christ, and by so doing we’re coming to Christ….How blessed and grateful we should be that our Heavenly Father knew what we would need and then provided the means where these needs could be met through the hearts and hands of others who love”
